Meet William Murray, our Director of Customer Success! Yes, the man in charge of finding the best ways to help you reach your goals with the Macrostax app.
What did you get your degree in and where?
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, BA.
What is your favorite ‘fun food’?
Pepper smash burgers. I cook them myself and they always remind me of a good night hanging out with friends or a fun summer day. (100g burger patties, homemade mini tortillas for the bun, pepper Jack cheese, homemade pepper sauce with moruga scorpion peppers, cooked on a propane griddle)
At which store would you most likely max out your credit card?
Rockler or Woodcraft. I'd empty my bank account for some more woodworking tools.
What is it that drives you to be successful?
I'm just a very competitive individual. I love friendly competition with my family and friends that pushes me to be better. I compete against myself the hardest. The constant motivation is what always pushes to be better at who I am and what I do.
What are you most passionate about?
I'm really into conservation and sustainability. I was a scuba diving instructor and I always loved teaching reef and fish identification and conservation. I taught underwater photography so that people would learn to be more careful underwater, leaving with photos and not shells. Pick up your trash, leave no trace, be mindful, keep nature beautiful!
Who inspires you?
Kind of weird, my blind cat Bandit. She was born without eyes so she has no idea she's blind. I have seen her climb to all of the highest points in the house, I've seen her catch mice, crabs, and bugs. She runs the house and she doesn't let anything hold her back. It's flat out motivating and impressive.
What made you want to work for Macrostax?
I found fitness and nutrition in my 30's. I always had a physical job and never put much thought into it but once I started counting macros my whole life changed. I felt better, I was better at my job, I lost weight, and just saw an overall improvement. I planned to move to Boulder, CO and when I saw that Macrostax was hiring it was just a perfect fit.
What style of workouts do you gravitate towards?
Bodyweight workouts primarily. I still squat and deadlift for the benefits but pull ups, dips, and everything bodyweight is what I lean on. I come from a very gymnastics family so I've always found the benefit in functional bodyweight strength.
Outside of working out and counting macros what are a few things that Macrostaxers would find you doing in your free time?
Woodworking, gardening, and mountain biking.
Can you play any instruments?
Not well! I am teaching myself piano.
What is one of your staple foods that you couldn’t live without?
Babybel Cheese. The little red ones are 5p 5f. They are perfect to fill in the gaps and they're so good!
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
I want to set up a mini farm and grow all of my own produce.
I'm taking a blacksmithing class so I can make my own set of kitchen knives some day.
I want to fluently speak 3 languages. I'm ok with a few but far from fluent.
