Top 5 Alcoholic Drinks For Your Macros

Posted: May 4, 2021
Author: Vanessa Cohn

For some people, being able to enjoy adult beverages is one of the best parts of following a flexible dieting program like Macrostax. If you choose to have your nightly glass of wine, or to fit a few drinks into your macros for a special night out, you can do it guilt-free! Below is our top five list of macro-friendly alcoholic drinks to help you enjoy the best of both worlds.

1. Vodka Diet Tonic

A classic! Diet tonic waters and soda waters are calorie-free, making them pretty much the number one pick when it comes to fitting it as an alcoholic mixer into your macros. We opted for vodka here since it tends to be one of the more popular liquor choices, but you could use another clear liquor like gin, add a splash of lime and you’re done!

Macros for a single: 64 calories / 16g carbs / 0g protein / 0g fat

2. Rum and Diet Coke

Similar to the mixer above, rum and coke is another popular choice. Make this one low-calorie by swapping out regular coke for a diet version. A lime slice goes great here too!

Macros for a single: 64 calories / 16g carbs / 0g protein / 0g fat

3. Whiskey Diet Ginger

Prefer whiskey over rum? You can use Diet Coke again if it’s your favorite mixer, but diet ginger ale makes another great option if you want to switch things up.

Macros for a single: 70 calories / 18g carbs / 0g protein / 0g fat

4. Hard Seltzers

Hard seltzers have taken a front row seat in the party line up and they’re here to stay. You can find a lot of options on the shelf now including White Claw, Truly, Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer, Smirnoff Seltzer, Bud Light Seltzer, Corona Hard Seltzer, even Pabst Blue Ribbon Stronger Seltzer! Most of these brands contain about 100 calories per can (ranging from 80 kcal to 130 kcal) which is the perfect light alcoholic delight–and in a variety of flavors too.

Macros for one 12-oz can: 100 calories / 25g carbs / 0g protein / 0g fat

5. Skinny Margarita

What is an alcoholic beverages list without a good margarita? This version from us here at Macrostax is lightly sweetened with agave syrup plus extra zest from fresh squeezed lime and oranges. Find it in the app and enjoy one for Cinco de Mayo!

Macros for 1 drink: 166 calories / 41g carbs / 0.5g protein / 0g fat

Remember, alcohol is not one of the main three macronutrients (carbs, protein, or fat), but it still has calories and therefore needs to be accounted for in your macros when you’re meal planning. For more information on how alcohol should be calculated properly into your macros, you can read our blog here, check out the cheat sheet below or watch the video on using our in-app calculator. Bottoms up!
